Lots of boo-boo's and Pureed Veggies

Caroline took a big spill last weekend. She was running and flipped over the rock ledge that outlines the back porch. She hit her head and face on the concrete/rock and fell onto her back. Watching her do it was terrifying! I just knew she had broken her neck.
Her face was scraped up and her forehead had a dent in it......yes, a dent. I called Brenda and we put ice it right away. (Amelia was here with me) The dent popped out and made a bump after just a few minutes. She was pretty shaken up and Graham was crying because Caroline was screaming. It was crazy! Poor Amelia might think twice about having kids of her own now!

Here are Caroline's boo-boo's the next day. Her forehead looked a ton better after icing it all evening. However, the rest of her looked worse the day after this picture was taken. Her whole nose was one big bruise.

Graham had a little boo-boo of his own. He busted his lip on the hardwood floor. He actually the liked the ice pack. (Caroline hates it)

You've most likely heard me talk about how Graham is such a picky eater. It drives me crazy. I worry about him not getting the right vitamins and nutrients. So....I bought this cook book by Jessica Seinfield. She purees veggies and hide them in all her recipes so that her kids get everything they need. The first time I did this I pureed cauliflower, carrots, squash, broccoli, and sweet potatoes. I take out what I need for the week and freeze the rest in small baggies.
The first thing I made for Graham was a grilled cheese with a full helping of squash in the melted cheese. In the morning I am making pancakes with all the normal stuff plus sweet potatoes!

Here are chicken nuggets rolled in broccoli puree before the breading. You really can't tell the difference. I think they are very yummy!

All of my pureed veggies.
Here is Graham eating his grilled cheese with pureed squash. He never knew the difference!

Graham started walking behind his push toy. He took four steps!

Graham's 9 month pics

These are Graham's nine month portraits. Actually he about 10 months here, I was a little behind getting these made. I just wanted to get a few because I plan on having the entire family done when Graham turns one. I thought these turned out really cute though!

Fresh Veggies!

I am determined to put up enough fresh veggies to last this winter. I love veggies and there is nothing better than getting them fresh and ready to go. I have put up sweet corn, peas, and squash so far. I think I have enough of those to last about halfway through right now. I will work on it again next week but I really had to stop and get my kitchen back in order for now.

Caroline helped get the "hair" off the corn.
This is just a small amount of the veggies that we had to get ready.
This is how Graham helped.

This is my deep freeze. There is still plenty of space to fill!

July 4th Party

This year we went to Stephie's for the 4th of July. We had a great time. It was the best 4th that I can remember! Caroline has always been so scared of the water and she has finally learned to swim in her life jacket in the deep end. She was so proud! She stayed in the water for hours. The men grilled burgers and hot dogs and Stephie had tons yummy food on the side. After everyone came inside for the night we sent the big kids upstairs to the playroom and we all played trivia games until two in the morning. It was fun seeing everyone and the kids had a blast!

There was way to much going on in the pool for Graham. He was perfectly content to sit safely in Connie's lap and watch the other kids.

Library, Painting, Baths, and Playworld

Graham had his first trip to playworld this week. He had a great time. We were there for three hours but I think he would have stayed all day if I let him.

Graham has escaped from his bath chair! It has been easier to bath him in the chair than to let him be free to play. I finally let him out the other day and he loved it! He actually cried when it was time to get out and has every night since then.

Here is Caroline using her new art easel. Maybe she will get some artistic talent from the Trotter side. She is always drawing on something.

We made a trip to the library last week. The kids had a really good time. There are play houses and kitchens and lots of books. They have story time in the mornings for different ages. I think we will try to make one next week.

I know this is a random picture here. Graham is the pickiest eater ever! He only likes food from the grains food group.....bread, crackers, cereal. He will also eat eggs and bananas sometimes. Every meal is like breakfast time for him! He hates anything new that I try to give him. Now, I know that noodles aren't really different but at least they had a different flavor. When we went to visit Ben's dad for father's day Mylet sent back some of her yummy Asian noodles that she always makes for me. Graham loved them! He made a huge mess but that was OK with me.
