A Cold Camping Trip!

Every year for Mother's Day I talk Benjamin into going to the lake. Usually we just grill out or bring sandwiches to the small lake in Conway. We let Caroline play and just hang out and enjoy the day. This year we decided to actually go camping instead. I have never been camping this early in the year. Of course we get a cold front that weekend. It was freezing at night! Luckily I brought a good size heater for the tent.
It was Graham's first camping trip and he did really well. We all had a good time. We camped at Choctaw on Greers Ferry Lake. It was only 25 minutes from the farm. We will be going back as soon as I can talk Benjamin into it again!

The water was too cold to swim in but Caroline had a great time just getting her feet wet. She played in the sand most the time. She told me she had "made" something new.....water dirt. Apparently she was disappointed when I told her that it was actually just mud.

Graham and I played on a big blanket while Caroline was building sand castles.

Caroline is showing me the shell she discovered.
This is Graham sleeping the first night we were there. I had to wait for Benjamin to set up the tent after he got off work on Friday and it was already past Graham's bed time. I put him in the pack and play while we were setting up inside the tent and he fell right to sleep. We were being very noisy and there were lights on everywhere but he was out of it!

Here are the kiddos in their "beds". You can see all the toys that are strewn everywhere! I think we brought the entire house with us.

Caroline thinks the world is ending if she doesn't get to watch a little TV right before bed. We brought my laptop so that she could watch hers shows.
Graham loves being outside. I would bring out the pack and play during the day and put all his toys in it so that he could get down and play.
I think all food tastes good on the lake. We brought an electric skillet and the first night I made taco soup. We also grilled hotdogs and had a huge breakfast in the morning.
I am so glad I brought Graham's high chair seat. I sat it on top of the table and he would eat whenever we did.

Again, Graham is so tired. He conked out in my lap while we were sitting in front of the fire.

Ben is grilling our hot dogs for supper.

This the last morning on the campsite. It was really early. It would get so light in the tent that the kids would wake up a little after 6:00am.
Caroline eating strawberries for breakfast, her favorite.
